Installing WaveSecure

  •    Why doesn’t WaveSecure get activated even when I enter my user name and PIN?
    • When you enter your user name and PIN on your phone, it sends an instruction to our servers via SMS and the web page refreshes automatically to take you to the Welcome to WaveSecure page. Sometimes, the phone cannot communicate with the server properly; this may be due to a number of reasons, e.g. the SMS was lost or delayed in transmission over telco networks. If you do face this problem, we recommend that you restart your phone and try activating again. If it is still not successful, do drop us a help request at the Contact Us page and we’ll help you out.

  •    How can I uninstall WaveSecure on my phone?
    • Symbian: If you have a Symbian 9 phone, go to the application manager found under Menu -> Tools and enter your PIN to uninstall WaveSecure. If you have a Symbian 7 or 8 phone, go to the WaveSecure application on the phone. It can be found either under the menu or under the installations or applications folder. Go to settings and after entering your PIN, select Stop WS. Be sure that the System status says “Not Running”. After WaveSecure has been successfully stopped, you can uninstall WaveSecure via application manager found under Menu -> Tools. It may happen that the uninstall fails the first time around. This is a known issue and is resolved by attempting to uninstall again.

      Windows Mobile: Go to Start -> Settings -> System tab and tap on Remove Programs. Select ‘tenCube WaveSecure’ and tap remove. You will have to put in your WaveSecure PIN to uninstall WaveSecure.

Using WaveSecure

  •    Does WaveSecure work if the phone is taken out of the local operator’s network or to another country?
    • WaveSecure is just as effective outside the country & local operator’s network as within. Thus, all features of WaveSecure will work no matter where in the world the phone is. For example, the Track function still informs the owner about the new SIM card inserted, even if the SIM card belongs to a different network in a different country, as long as the new SIM inserted is enabled to communicate over the telco networks.
      However, if you are out of the country and on roaming, you will incur roaming charges through your telecom operator accordingly if you use WaveSecure.

  •    Can I customize WaveSecure to suit my mobile usage patterns and preferences?
    • Yes, you can. WaveSecure offers you a range of customizable settings. For instance, you can configure the setting to automatically lock itself whenever the SIM card is replaced (because this would most likely imply the phone is stolen). However, if you have more than one SIM that you use often, you can add additional Safe SIMs that will not trigger the locking. WaveSecure also enables you to back up different type of data the way you want it. For example, you can set it to automatically back up your crucial data such as contacts and messages.

  •    Is my data safe with tenCube?
    • Your privacy is our top concern. We adhere to a strict and comprehensive privacy policy to safeguard it.
      Communication security: The data communication between your phone and our servers is encrypted using SSL; which is the same technology banks for encrypting information sent to their internet banking websites.
      Security on our servers: The data on our servers is encrypted using AES-128 bit key and only you have access to your data - even our administrators cannot access your data. Physically, our servers are stored in a secured data centre with fail safe mechanisms for power outages, fires and natural calamities.

  •    How much does WaveSecure cost?
    • Currently WaveSecure is a invitation-only beta service, and it’s completely free. WaveSecure uses the telco networks to communicate with our servers, which your mobile operator may charge you a minimal sum for, depending on your plan. In Singapore, this typically will not exceed $0.50 per month. You can find the exact usage of WaveSecure in the WaveSecure application on your phone and you can check with your operator on what the cost is. The data charges may go up if you perform large amount of data backup, please see BackUp section for details.

  •    You mean there's absolutely no way anyone can remove WaveSecure?
    • WaveSecure is designed with extremely high security in mind. The regular ways of removing applications or data from the mobile device will not work on WaveSecure (i.e. once installed, you cannot get rid of it via remove programs, deleting files, or the uninstaller unless you have the PIN). However, if you upgrade or flash the device's ROM, WaveSecure may be removed along with your data. Your backed-up data, however, will always be secure on the web.

Locking the phone

  •    How do I unlock my phone?
    • If you have locked your phone, you can unlock it instantly by either entering your PIN in your mobile phone or by clicking “Unlock now” in the locking section of the website.

Tracking

  •    So what does WaveSecure Track?
    • WaveSecure helps you track down every detail of the activities in your phone. You can easily track any new SIM cards inserted into your phone by visiting the Track page. You can also use the backup feature to track down all the SMS sent/received, incoming/outgoing phone calls, etc. This can help you keep a record of your own usage, or track down the thief’s identity in case of theft.

  •    Can I track the geographical location of my phone?
    • The current version of WaveSecure does not track the geographical location of your phone, although it is something that we are working on for the future. Tracking enables you to view the number of the new inserted SIM card and can then contact the person and persuade him/her to return your phone. You can also track usage like SMS sent/received or phone calls made, and may report this to police as evidence.

  •    What data can I backup?
    • You can backup your contacts, SMS and call logs stored on the phone memory. Calendar, photos, and video. will be available soon! Let us know what data you would like to see backed up.

  •    How can I backup my data?
    • You could backup your data in three ways:

      • Automatic backup: You can set your phone to backup periodically. You can set these options on the WaveSecure application on your device. You can choose your backup interval and the data you want to back up. This is an incremental backup so only new data added or modified on the phone since the last backup will be backed up. Automatic backup is seamless and requires zero effort from you.

      • Manual backup: If you do not want to backup automatically, you can select the data you want to back up at that point under My Device. Manual backup is incremental as well and only the new data added on the phone since the last backup will be backed up.
      • Device triggered backup: We have recently added a new feature that allows you to backup directly from the WaveSecure application on your device.

  •    Can I backup data on my SIM and memory card?
    • No, unfortunately you cannot backup the data on your SIM and memory card. If you have important contacts and/or SMS in your SIM, we suggest that you copy them to the phone memory and they will get backed up. We do not backup all data on your memory card.

  •    Does all the information contained in my contact get backed up?
    • Yes, all the information (including the associated photo, address and notes) associated with a particular contact gets backed up. You can view the full details of your contact by clicking on the particular contact in the Contacts view in your WaveSecure account online. You can also view your SMS conversation and call log conversation in your contacts view.

Account Settings

  •    What do I do when I get a new phone?
    • If your new phone is already supported by us you can transfer WaveSecure easily. Go to Settings and Disconnect your WaveSecure account. This will bring you to the installation page where you can install and activate WaveSecure on your new phone. Thereafter, simply restore all your data to your new phone!

  •    What is a Safe SIM? How many Safe SIMs can I specify?
    • If you have auto-lock on SIM change enabled, your phone will automatically lock when the SIM card is changed. If you use more than one SIM card frequently and do not want to phone to lock when you insert one of your SIMs, you can add these SIMs as Safe SIMs. You can specify an unlimited number of Safe SIMs.
